What we do
Shaanta.com provides services to the holistic and health conscious communities. We do this through a similar method to other large websites, a concept coined as "advertising". However, our method of advertising brings in a social networking aspect. Our goal is to help our customers find, view, and get acquainted with local holistic stores, practitioners, trainers, studios, and gyms, among many other holistic and health related industries. Shaanta.com allows the local holistic and health specialist/stores to create a "lister" account, and advertise their business on our site at no cost to them. Our website provides options for the lister - as we like to call them - to upload video interviews/tours, create articles, list their employees profiles, and provide general information to the public.
Sounds great, doesn't it? Well, like everything else in life, there is a catch; fortunately though, not for anyone thinking about signing up as a lister. Now, before you hit the "back" button on your browser, let us explain why we charge the consumer to search for the specialists. First, and foremost, we want to keep the site clean as possible, which means no unrelated or annoying ads on the website. Second, each profile made by a lister, must get approved by our team. Thus, we look into every profile made to see if the information is valid and not someone trying to scam people out of their money. If this means emailing or calling the lister to find out if the information they provided in their profile is real, so be it. We want to help the consumer find the perfect service or business, without them having to do much work besides visiting our site and browsing that profile. Additionally, to help p
Okay so that's what Shaanta does, now let us explain what Shaanta means. Literally, in spoken Sankrit, "shaanta" is very close to the English word "peaceful". Tamil Cube's Sankrit dictionary defines it as "the sentiment of happiness; peace; pleasure". Though, sometimes it is spelled with a "z" rather than a "sh" due to how similar the sounds are. When written out in Sanskrit "shaanta" looks like this:
